TELL US YOUR
UNFINISHED LOVE STORY!
We’re looking for a real love story from your own life—happy or sad, capturing a moment or a lifetime, unfinished or not.
We believe that love is something imperfect, unfinished, and always in progress. Love is not the way it’s typically portrayed in the media, but something much more complex, conflicted, subjective–real.
We also believe that we ought to listen more to each other and can all learn so much from one another’s stories. Love is much more than romance. Love can be family, friendship, patriotism, religion, activism, identity. Responsibility, loss, joy, grief, pain, determination, serendipity.
AND WE BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE MANY HIDDEN WRITERS OUT THERE…
ARE YOU ONE OF THEM?
HOW
TO SUBMIT?
- Email your submission to my(at)unfinishedlove.com. Please suggest a title for your story in the subject line of your email.
- Make sure your story is within the right word limit. You can choose between the following two lengths: 1. an essay: between 1,500 and 1,700 words. 2. a short: under 100 words.
- Attach your essay as a Microsoft Word-compatible document and also copy‑paste the text into the body of the email. If you later realize that your first submission is incomplete, please resubmit your story completely. Do not submit just the missing pieces in additional emails.
- Your story must be completely true. Do not use pseudonyms (including for yourself), invented characters or places.
- Your story must be previously unpublished. Work that has appeared online in any form—on another news website or even a personal blog—is considered published.

- The stories must be written in English and sent until September 15.
